I would like to go with Stephen Krashen and the Monitor model. This theory gives a clear distinction between acquiring a language and learning a language. Acquiring he says is a subconscious effort which is taken up from the conversations that we have naturally or in an informal manner. On the other hand, learning a language is actually a conscious effort and error correction plays a major part here. This is formal.
